I’m always looking for new ways to streamline my work as a freelancer.

When I heard about Slack, I was intrigued. I decided to give it a try and see if it lived up to the hype. Here’s my review of Slack. I will review what sets aside Slack from other messaging apps, pricing, and more.

Slack app review - Is slack worth it?

What is Slack?

Slack is a powerful communication hub that makes staying in touch with colleagues and teams easier than ever.

With this app, it’s easy to send messages and files in an instant, whether you’re working alone or together on the same project.

What really sets Slack apart from other apps is its comprehensive range of features designed to foster collaboration.

You can create public or private channels for topics and projects, connect your calendars to set up reminders or schedule tasks, and even use integrations with popular third-party services like Trello and Dropbox.

Slack’s unique messaging feature allows users to communicate in real time — both publicly and privately — with individuals or groups of fellow team members. Slack is sure to revolutionize the way we collaborate on projects at all levels!

What makes Slack unique?

Slack is quickly becoming the go-to messaging app for freelancers, small businesses and teams who need an effective way to communicate.

Unlike WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, which are primarily used for personal conversations, Slack is purpose-built for collaborative work.

Slack allows users to create separate ‘channels’ for different topics or projects so that users can easily jump in and out of conversations without getting overwhelmed.

Users can also share documents, files and images with each other – handy when multiple people are working on the same project. The search function makes it easy to find old messages quickly and accurately.

Slack integrates with third party apps like Zoom or Google Drive – making collaboration easier than ever!

Overall, Slack offers a powerful messaging tool as well as convenient features that make it stand out from other messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Slack pricing

While there are other collaborative tools available, many businesses find that Slack outperforms them in terms of speed, dependability, and usability.

The best part is that Slack is not only easy to use but also free (at least to start with.)

If your team requires additional features — such as unlimited message storage or a larger app directory, you may want to upgrade to their paid plans.

These plans range from $6.67/user/month for the Standard plan to $12.50/user/month for the Plus plan.

Fortunately, they offer a 14-day free trial so that you can try before making any commitment.

Setup difficulty

Slack is an incredibly easy platform to use to stay connected with your network.

The user-friendly interface is designed to keep communication simple and straightforward.

From there it’s just a matter of creating channels or direct messages to the people you want to communicate with.

If you want to make changes or customize your account settings, that is easy too. By clicking on the edit option in settings, you can create custom admin roles for team members depending on their needs and preferences.

Everything about Slack’s setup process has been designed for simplicity and convenience; businesses and groups of any size can set up a Slack account quickly and easily no matter how much experience they have with online communication platforms.

Slack drawbacks

Slack has become a popular way for teams to communicate – and with good reason.

From its intuitive layout to the ability to embed photos, videos and other documents directly into conversations, it’s easy to see why many people prefer it over traditional forms of communication.

However, there can be some downsides to Slack as well.

For starters, if you’re part of a large team or organization that relies heavily on written communication, using Slack can quickly become overwhelming as every team member’s messages appear in one central location.

If you don’t stay on top of archiving unnecessary conversations and messages, your inbox can fill up quickly – creating even more confusion and clutter.

Since conversations on Slack are open (meaning anyone can view them), your team is missing out on the privacy that would be found during an in-person discussion or collaboration session.

Overall, while Slack offers fewer distractions than other types of messaging systems, there are still some drawbacks worth considering before everyone jumps onboard.

It’s important to weigh these pros and cons before deciding whether Slack is the best fit for your team.

Is Slack worth it?

Slack can be a valuable tool for businesses and personal communication.

As a messaging app, it’s incredibly simple to use and allows users to send documents, photos, links, audio files and more.

There are features that enable threaded messages and direct messaging one on one with colleagues or friends. It also has integration capabilities with some of the other team collaboration services available.

Overall, Slack is an easy to use messaging app that is highly customizable with plenty of features making it worth using even if your organization already has another preferred communication system in place.
